Stall (if you can call it that)

Recommended Posts

I didn't think I would freak out over a 2 day stall but here I am. I think what is bothering me is it's happening 11 days after my surgery. Is there any veterans that can relate and what did you do?

Stay calm! Stalls are a common occurance. Just remember to meet your Protein, Fluid and Vitamin daily requirements and walk around 30 minutes each day and then let the magic happen.

There are going to be a lot of these little stalls, and a lot of big ones too. Never has someone lost every single day until they hit goal weight, unfortunately. I'm in a stall as we speak... for a month now. It sucks and is frustrating, but I've still lost 110 pounds in 6 months. Do yourself a huge favor and focus on being healthy and taking good care of yourself, as well as healing. The weight loss will come naturally as a result. :)

Actually, I don't think 2 days with no change on the scale really counts as a stall. For me, a stall has to be longer than a week.

That said, stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you plan to lose a substantial amount of weight, then you will experience stalls.

Almost everyone experiences their first stall about three weeks after surgery.

Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Stay off the scale. And, Embrace the Stall!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
