What do all the skinny people do?!

Recommended Posts

So im on a 2 week liquid diet (very restricted). my main objective is to get my mind OFF food. so all i can think of is what the first real meal in gonna have is gonna be. thinking of meals doesnt really get my mind off food. ive found that when they say food becomes very unimportant, they are so right. so what are all these skinny people doing to NOT worry about food all the time? also what are the doing while they eat? how can they make meals so slow!? theres only so much to talk about!

and just a side question, i know im going on a liquid diet to shrink my liver, but the food i can have is SO repulsive, im barely eating anything... that wont make it enlarge again for some unknown reason will it?

:)

I have often wondered what skinny people think about too. I know now that I have been banded, that they don't sit and think about things, they go out and do them. That is what I am doing now, instead of sitting home and planning menus of all the food that I want to eat, I am going out and doing all kinds of things that don't involve food at all. I can sometimes go hours and hours without even thinking about food, which in itself is quite amazing!!! I used to get upset if someone called during my mealtime. I didn't want the uncontrollable shoveling of food into my mouth to be interuppted!!!! I also used to get mad when DH would need something for work, that would take out of my eating out budget, which was about four to five times a week. And that was not the lunches that I would go pig out on without anyone knowing about!!! Sitting in my car and shoving in as much food as possible because, who really knows when the next time I would get to eat out would be. I know darn good and well that it would be the next day or at the most two days!!!

It really feels good to have some kind of control over this. It must be what skinny people feel when they say, "I haven't eaten for 24 hours, I have been so busy". I used to wonder how a person could just possibly be TOO BUSY to eat!!! I guess maybe I am finding that out!!

i had a really rough preop diet as well. basically Water, crystal light, Jello, popcicles and broth. it sucks. still doing it after the surgery.,, BUT i was pretty proud when the doc told me how good and soft and easy to work with my liver was, i was glad i stuck to it (OK well i cheated ONCe and ate at a wedding and had 2 beers but thats it :) it will be worth it in the end!!

(bold mine)

I hate to disagree, but I still rather enjoy food and eating. Its just that I eat far, far less now, and a higher quality of food. Eating *is* important. As is *what* I eat.

But the main difference now (when compared to my morbidly obese days) is that I don't eat all the time. I ate without thinking. Now I think before I eat. Before I just inhaled my food, now it sit down and savour my meals.

What I had to do to enjoy my life was to fill it with other non food related thing I enjoyed (running, knitting, swimming, photography, gardening - maybe that is food related! It's a veggie garden!!)

Basically, I am living my life rather than eating it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
