revision from LapBAND, 150+ lbs to lose

Recommended Posts

Can I really do this???? My HW was 337 and I'm hoping to get down to at least 150, but my personal goal is 130. That seems IMPOSSIBLE.

I'm so worried that I can't do it!! I am a revision patient, from the lapband. It worked for 6 years, but it broke three years ago and I regained EVERY POUND plus 37 more. I've even had a hard time staying on my pre-op diet now that I'm going through this process. If I couldn't make the lapband work, how can I make this work? I am so afraid to fail again.

My band was removed on Feb 5th. My bypass is scheduled for March 10th and I'm scared. I'm working so hard to make the mental changes I need to but I keep falling back into bad habits. What needs to be different about it THIS TIME that I won't fail again?

Yes, you can do it. I started at 310, my heaviest weight was 315. I was a mess with many comorbitities.

I had bypass almost 17 months ago. When I set my goal I thought there is no way in hell I will ever get there. Well my goal is 165 which is an ideal weight for my height. I am currently at 168!

Yes, 3lbs away! And I will make it and will likely lose a little more just for bounce back sake.

You just have to realize that you are in control, the bypass is simply the tool. You have to eat good well balanced meals and get active. I can only walk due to 3 surgeries this year but I can still walk.

You will do great, you just have to believe it!

You CAN do it! I don't even know you and I totally believe in you. You've come a long way and learned a lot, and now it's time for the next step on your journey towards health! We're all here to support you. <3

Also, I am 6 months and 2 days post op, and I'm down 110 since surgery. My weight on the day of surgery was 387. It's not only doable but your good results are just around the corner...

you've got this. :D

I'm working hard on my confidence but seeing as that I have failed every other time I have lost weight, it really scares me. I feel like this is my last chance!

Oh my gosh you sound just like me! I am not as far along in the process but I am going to have my band removed and am researching GB and I'm just so scared! I love reading all the encouragement on here though, it helps so much!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
