Soooo, I messed up

Recommended Posts

Yesterday was a BAD day for me. Not only did I stumble and eat something a shouldn't have, I also exceeded my suggested serving size for two of my meals. This bit me in the butt as I noted a several pound gain over the last two days.

What the hell is wrong with me??? Sorry, had to get that out.

I could never understand how eating 1 lb. of the wrong food, and I puts on 10 lbs. of weight.

I am real good at gaining and loosing weight. Been doing it my whole life.

We all go thru this. The best is start fresh again.

I know that many people immediately go back to diet 1-liquid for a few days when they slip; get's them back in that post-op groove

We all slip! Give yourself a break, pick yourself back up and move forward on the plan. You will feel much better once you are back on track.

Good luck!

The best thing to do when you fall off the wagon, is to pick yourself up and put yourself back on that wagon. Try journaling what is going on in your life at the times you feel weak or give in to temptation. Write down how you were feeling and anything that might in retrospect give you some clue into what your motivation for slipping up is so next time when you are in a similar situation you will recognize it and be able to handle it in a better more productive way.

Don't beat yourself up! We have all been there! Have yourself some herbal tea, close your eyes and remember how great it felt to have good news at the scale, that should do it. Believe in yourself, and forgive yourself [emoji56]

What NOT to do - BEAT YOURSELF UP! You did it, its over, move forward!

What TO do - Set yourself up for success instead of failure. Do your best to avoid situations that are going to cause you temptation - just for a couple of days. Get some extra exercise in. Concentrate on drinking an extra two glasses of Water. Try a new 'on plan' food or recipe to add interest to your diet. I find I often times mess up the most when I get bored with what I am eating. Changing it up (with good choices) makes eating exciting again. Finally, concentrate on just winning moments. I have times during the day, when I just have to keep telling myself that I need to get through the next half hour and then I can have whatever. Minutes turn into hours, hours turn into day. Winning days bring results. Remember, it is not the missteps or bad choices that we make here and there that are going to send us back to where we were, it is the choices we make every day.

Best of luck!

Carol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
