Eating problem after surgery!

Recommended Posts

At first, your stomach is swollen, and you can drink 1oz every 10-15 minutes. After a few weeks you'll be drinking almost normally.

It's normal. They cut a lot of Ghrelin out when they take your stomach. That's a "hunger" producing hormone. It will come back with time. Just do the best you can. Protein is great but water/ fluids are your best friend. Keep working at it. Good luck.

Just keep telling yourself, "This is temporary!" I am almost 4 weeks out and also struggled at first to get fluids down, but now have no problem. It seems so daunting in the beginning, but it gets so much better. Best of luck to you!

I do not have much of an appetite after surgery this is normal? as I get to drink Protein I can not drink up an onz, how long I have to wait to drink another onz? And Water omg is a lot. [emoji20][emoji20][emoji20]

3 weeks out yesterday. I was/am a gulper on liquids. Sips just annoy me. Luckily ive found that i can take 2-3 swallows at a time and be just fine.

As far as appetite i don't really have one now either. I've switched from hunger to mild nausea if i go too long between meals

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
