nina587 0 Posted February 18, 2016 Hey everyone! I just had twin boys in July 2015 and I've been thinking about getting the gastric sleeve done. Has anyone gotten it done after having kids? What are your experiences? How long were you down after having surgery and how long before you could pick your kids up?
jess9395 5,449 Posted February 19, 2016 I was back to most normal activity in a week, but I haven't been able to pick up my kids since! Of course they are 13 and 17 and taller than me, LOL! Seriously though they recommend avoiding heavy lifting for a month.
nina587 0 Posted February 19, 2016 Thank you! What qualifies as heavy lifting? My boys are only 15/16lbs each I was back to most normal activity in a week, but I haven't been able to pick up my kids since! Of course they are 13 and 17 and taller than me, LOL! ApollosMommy 17 Posted February 19, 2016 My son was 16 months old and 25 lbs when I had my bypass. I didn't pick him up for the first week and a half. I picked him up the second week and only held him for small periods of time. I'm now 4 weeks out and hold him as needed with no issues. cindikevin2 44 Posted February 19, 2016 Depends on your surgeon. Mine restricts to 5 pounds for six weeks. Which is hard to stick to.

My mom stayed 5 days and that helped us a lot.
nina587 0 Posted February 19, 2016 My husband would take a week or so off work to help you. Which will be nice. Thank you. Honestly not being able to help out and pick my boys up is my only worry.
