bevewhite 25 Posted February 18, 2016 Today was my first day to start the Adkins diet. I have been instructed to eat this high Protein diet for 4 days and then go to Atkins shakes for 3 days. I had Breakfast around 0830 this morning and at 1030 my blood sugar had bottomed out to the 40s. I ate some lunch meat that I found, but i knew that was not going to be enough with my routine medications on board. So, I end up eating a fruit cup to get my blood sugar up. I guess going forward, I need to reduce my medications. I take 3 different medications. I guess, I am going to have to experiment with what to take. Have others had problems with their blood sugar and medications during the pre-op diet?

I am not diabetic, but this sounds like something you should work out between your regular doctor and your surgeon. I assume you have talked to your NUT about this?
