How are yall doing? Yall back to work yet?

I go back on the 22nd. I took an extra week of PTO just to make sure I knew exactly what I was doing and I was comfortable with my eating when I went back to work. The time is going by super fast!

The time is flying by isn't it! I had originally planned to go back this past Monday but my doc won't release me until this up coming monday. I have a desk job so I don't have to worry about lifting. I'm not sure if I wanna go back yet or not. It's been nice to just sort of hang out.

I went back to my full time job on Thursday, and my little part time gig las Tuesday. I tell ya, getting back into the swing of things and 14 hour ER shifts was tough. Especially when you really don't have time to take breaks to eat or drink anything. By last night it was better. I'm glad to hear everyone is doing well!

Hi All!

Sorry I've been MIA for a bit. I've had a hard time of it for a little while, but it seems I'm turning the corner. Glad everyone seems to be doing well.

Getting Protein and Water in is a full time job! I literally log everything and put my phone timer on between eating and drinking so I can try and get it all in. I have to drink the yucky Muscle Milk protein pre made drink...I can't stomach regular milk, or the Premier Protein pre-made ones. I don't want to spend alot of money on Protein Powder that I don't like either. So, I'll probably order some samples.< br />
I thankfully help my husband with his business from home, and don't have to be at work full time.

I began purees on Thursday, and I was SO happy! Not sure if you all have heard of pureeing the food and then putting it in ice cube trays and freezing it, so the food doesn't go bad and you can pop out a couple for a serving. A little tip...get the ice cube trays that you just push the bottom so you can get them out easy.

I've pureed Chipolte chicken (yum!) It's $2.69 for a 4 oz container...Wendy's chili (yum!) a small one is just a couple of bucks and it purees so easily. I also did black bean Soup and turkey chili from Panera. (They tasted Ok). My husband just bought some carrots and green Beans, so I'll be pureeing them tomorrow. I have also eaten eggs and eggs with cheese, one time the eggs with cheese gave me severe heartburn...the next time Intook my Zantac, and chewed each bite 20-30 times over 20-25 minutes, andit was fine. I really like refried beans with a little cheese. I use little forks and spoons and a small plate so I eat slower and don't feel deprived.

I am much happier that I can eat more, but I am still so weak and I've felt hot and cold and shaky.

On my 17th day I had lost 20 lbs. my highest weight was 234 and my surgery weight was 224.5. I was very happy to see the scale going down, but a few days later once I've been eating I feel heavier. I haven't weighed to find out.

I can cross my legs easier...yay! And I put on a couple of nicer outfits and my husband was very happy. He says he feels like he's getting his wife back.

How much can you all eat? I can pretty comfortably eat 1/2 cup or pureed food (whih worries me), it seems like others can eat less. Also, how long will you be on purees? I have to be one for 30 days. post-252785-14580879602621_thumb.jpg

I've been using baby spoons to help with Portion Control. I found these and they work well and don't look like baby spoons.

I am now on mushies. Mashed potatoes. Scrambled eggs. Soft cheeses. Deli meats. Crackers. pudding. Etc.

Today for lunch I brought 4 crackers, 2 slices of thin deli meat, and 1 wedge of laughing cow cheese. I was only able to eat half of it at one time. But as far as liquids go I cab do about 1/2 cup at a time. According to my NUT that's right where I should be.

I typically only get in about 40-50 oz of liquid each day. It's definitely hard.

I've now lost a total of 16lbs since surgery. But I've slowed down quite a bit this week. Only a 3lb loss I think. But as long as it isn't a gain it's still going in the right direction.

I'm back at work now and find it alot easier than I thought it would be.

Have yall had issues with Constipation?

Yes, I am having constipation. After all that liquid stool from the cat scan...it's now the opposite problem. To be honest, I'd rather have the loose stool than the constipation. I read that it's normal during the first month or so.

Your lunch sounded yummy. :)

It was very yummy @@Bluesky1 I've never had the laughing cow cheese before. This one was garlic herb flavored and it was delish!

I've always had some issues with Constipation but it gets so old. Now it's worse than ever :/

I waa going to ask you what kind you got. :) I'll have to try it. I've had some problems too (mostly because of my surgeries and then pain medicine). It's probably because we're also not earing that much volume, or Fiber.

Maybe your doc will approve a laxative or stool softner. Also, I drink the premade monstor milk drinks. They're probably constipating. Do you drink the Protein drinks? Which one do you like?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
