langloi3 6 Posted February 17, 2016 So i hit the 4 week mark and I was doing great, no nausea ever, no vomiting or diarrhea. Eating regular food (limited amounts ofcourse ) getting majority of my Water and protien in, things were really looking great. Then monday morning came and i started with severe diarrhea. I mean in 12 hours o went over 30 times. Spent most of the day on the toilet because it was running out of me. I ended up in the hospital admitted due to severe dehydration. But my doc and other docs think it is due to dietary non compliance. I work night shift and I am a nurse so when I work i normally supplement with protien shakes because it is easier and quicker. The night before I only had water and protien shakes so there is no way my diarrhea was from something i ate. Has this happend to anyone else?
DaisyAmy 561 Posted February 17, 2016 If you're only doing Protein, you'd be more likely to be constipated! I'm sorry the dr jumped right to noncompliance. That seems unfair. You probably had some sort of stomach bug.
erp 2,016 Posted February 17, 2016 Your journey dietarily was like mine, on soft solids at about 4 weeks out and no diarrhea. In fact I was still taking stool softeners at that point. It does sound more like a virus than something behavioral but you can get dumping syndrome so check the amount of sugar from your day's eating to see if you had more than usual. Same thing with lactose, some develop intolerance post op.
