adrinanna 46 Posted February 17, 2016 I have my first appointment with nutritionist next week. Every one says ask lots of question but I have no clue what I should ask. I want to make the most of it so I am curious what questions did you regret not asking?
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted February 17, 2016 I don't have anything I regret not asking and if I had a question I have never had a problem calling and asking, so don't worry too much if you aren't sure what to ask. Just make a list of questions as they occur to you. If your bariatric program is like mine you will have individual appointments with your NUT along with group nutrition classes so you will receive lots of information, including a big binder full of program material. Write everything down and if something is unclear, ask questions until you understand, Some important things your NUT will most probably cover but you will need to know: How to deal with your specific challenges/where you need help. Do you need help with things like: portion size, food choices, reading labels, eating too fast, etc? What you will need to do to prepare for surgery pre-op. Whether or not you are required to lose weight or maintain weight pre-op and if so, how much and over what period of time. Whether or not you will have a pre-op liver-shrinking diet and if so what it includes. What Vitamins to take now and what to take post-op and when. What your daily Protein target is (this is the most-important thing to know post-op). Whether or not you need to buy/use specific Vitamins or Protein supplements or will they give you a range of recommendations. Best of luck with your appointment.
