Well my surgery was yesterday (2/15). I woke up in excruciating pain, I found this odd because what I have read from everyone else that surgery wasn't that bad. Maybe I am just a big baby. I am finally home. I always heal better when I am home. Good luck everyone. I will fill in more information after I don't feel so loopy.

That is normal! I was in terrible pain for about three days . I could still walk and move around but my abdomen was in a lot of pain... Considering what goes on in surgery I think it's understandable. Good luck to you!

Everyone's tolerance for pain is different. I am someone who has had multiple spine surgeries so the bypass for me was just uncomfortable for a couple days.

It all depends on ones tolerance, how tired or sick you are before surgery. Pain can wear you down and then it's less tolerable.

Also hormones and all the changes make a difference too.

Thank you ladies for your feedback. The pain has somewhat subsided this evening. So I am doing better.

I had my surgery 1 week ago and I woke up in excruciating pain, too. But it was more gas like pain. I never had soreness from the actual surgery. It was the worst pain, too. It took the whole week, but I think it's mostly all gone. Hang in there.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
