weight loss pills AFTER surgery

Recommended Posts

So I've posted a couple other posts about my lack of weight loss. I was sleeved this last June, I am 8 months post op with a total weight loss of 37lbs. I have went to all of my post op appointments and done all of my lab work, brought in my charts to show my calories intake along with Water, carbs, Protein etc. My follow up at 3mths I explained my discouragement about the lack of weight loss with nothing more then, " You are probably just a slow loser, and if we average your weight loss over 3 months you've lost 10lbs a month." I went home in tears...I went in again last month with absolutely NO weight loss and again said how upset I was, I explained that I could eat much more than my fellow friends who have had surgery right after myself and that I was hungry a lot more often.

I asked if it was possible that I had stretched my sleeve and was told, " Yes, but if I did stretch it then I was able to shrink it back down." So instead of an upper GI that I asked to have I was put on diet pills and told to come back in one month to see the doctor. I am so tired of taking diet pills and all the fad diets, this is why I went to the extreme of my very first surgery. Has anyone else been prescribed weight loss pills after not losing weight in the first year? I've lost 7lbs in a weeks time, however I've taken these pills several times in the past and know how they work, the second I go off of them the weight comes back.

I am 5'6 and currently 260lbs. Pre surgery weight 297. I weight everyday and don't measure because honestly my clothing size has never changed. I wear the size pants and my shirts are a tad loser in the mid section since before surgery. Typical diet is breakfast: premier Protein shake

snack: string cheese or almonds ( handful)

lunch: salad grilled chx, tuna or an omelet with meats/cheese

dinner: some form of meat and veggie with maybe a Pasta or rice...this meal varies more often.

Water intake is what Im slacking on currently, I take in about 50oz of Water daily. My exercise is very minimal, because honestly I thought I'd lose more weight in the beginning and feel confident about excercise again. At this point my goal weight would be 200lbs...I wasn't asking for too much I thought.

Have you considered the, "5 Day Pouch Test"? It might be just the thing to get you back on track.

I left a doctor's office just once in tears. NEVER AGAIN! If your relationship with your doctor is at that low of a level, I believe it's time for a second opinion--at least.

Get your records and get a second opinion. Can't hurt. It just might give you some new ideas, opinions, new horizons. If the second surgeon agrees with the first, then you can have the peace of mind that your following the right instructions.

I can not, should not, nor will I give medical advice. That's not right (nor legal :) ).

I'm just sharing with you what I think I would do.

Feel better and please keep us posted.

Prayers going up for

I actually did do the 5 day pouch reset test during my 5th month post op. I went back to premier Protein shakes 3x daily and was able to lose 7lbs but the second I started solids again the weight creeped right back on. At this point I'm just taking these pills until next month and hope that the surgeon is at least willing to do an upper GI and check me out. I have never personally seen him since him since the day after surgery, it has always been his PA. She told me next month I would be able to see him and see where to go from here. She mentioned that he has gone in before and made people's stomachs smaller after their first surgery so I guess I'll just see what he says. I've never heard of someone being put on diet pills after weight loss surgery, was hoping someone could relate. Thank you for your kind words :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
