Protein and your body!

Recommended Posts

I have read on multiple sites that your body can not process more than 20-30g of Protein at one time. So needless to say I am going to stop trying to purchase expensive very high protein products and stick to ones under 30g.

Not true. It's another one of those common fallacies pushed by nutrition/bodybuilding sites, but it's been debunked pretty well. Protein is absorbed by the small intestine incrementally over the course of many, many hours. Your body will not "flush" Protein like it does with other things like Vitamins and electrolytes. Digestion of protein is a long, long process that your body is highly efficient at. It doesn't waste macronutrients.

Bodybuilders consume 200-300g protein per day in order to build and maintain muscle. Don't worry, you're fine.

I sure hope so because I bought a lot of high protein things!!

Has anyone discussed this with their Dr? Curious what mine will say. I will keep y'all posted!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
