Has anyone heard of this

Recently, US food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials have begun to receive reports about issues with the surgical staples and medical staplers manufactured by the two major suppliers for the products. These suppliers, Ethicon and US Surgical,

Oh goody. It is an ambulance chaser law firm posting the information, so take it with a healthy dose of skepticism.

I'd just call my doctor if I was really concerned. I would not freak out.

My doctor had me sign a book, (not really but close)acknowledging all of the complications that "could" happen. I went in fully knowing what I was getting into. I have followed his instructions to the best of my ability, trust him whole heartily, trust his surgical history and positive outcomes and I'm glad he's been voted the best bariatric surgeon in my area/state. These article's purpose is to ignight fear and doubt in patients. Don't buy into the hype and trust your judgement.

My daughter is a surgical tech and actually had assisted my surgeon in prior surgeries, she says that the staples are used for every thing. This article ties them to bariatrics when in fact they are used for several internal surgeries.

Staples that reminds me of the office supply chain. But instead of an "Easy" ("That was easy") button these ambulance chasers have one of these.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
