Looking good buddy.

Looks like we have the same goal weight. I was just wondering how tall you were?

I'm on a high today! I had my biggest scale victory so far this morning. My BMI is now below 30. I'm no longer Obese! I'm now just Overweight. This to me, was bigger than being back in the 100's. Can't stop grinning!

The pounds have been tougher to shed the past few weeks, but had a fill this morning and I usually get a nice loss afterward. I now have 9.85 cc in my 10 cc band. Hope it does the trick for most of the rest of the journey!

Stand strong Brothers of the Band!

Good to see the pictures so I know there really is hope.

We went on a camping trip over the summer and when my wife showed me the pictures I couldn't believe what a big fat stomach I had. Didn't realize it was that bad until I saw the pictures (worth a 1000 words!)

Oh well, 2 more weeks till surgery.

Guys, I'm 49 and getting banded in 9 days on 10/26. I've been exercising and dieting like a fiend since my initial appointment (6/26/2007 - 290lbs, BMI 44.07).

I've lost 55 lbs pre-operatively keeping my diet between 1200 and 1700 calories a day and walking > 5 miles a day. I'm now at 235 lbs, BMI 35.73.

My 14 year old HS football playing lineman son has been watching me head out to do my roadwork every day. Yesterday he gave me the highest compliment you can get from a 14 year old:

He said: "Dad, you are very Chuck Norris like in your walking".

I've been smiling ear to ear. Part of my banding experience is the accountability in action I can demonstrate to my 3 sons. I have a weight problem, I'm taking active steps to fix it.

What a nice compliment!

You are doing fabulous Eric! You are a great expample for your boys. It will be much easier to keep your calories in that range very soon.

Good luck on your upcoming surgery!

Bruce

Well, it's official. I'm too small for Casual Male XL. I couldn't find anything there today, and got some odd looks from the clerk.

So on to Koles, and a selection of shirts without an X in the size, and three pairs of 38" waist pants

I have been checking in from time to time just haven't posted for awhile, but wanted to let you guys know I'm alive and kicking. I've been at a plateau for the past 2 months. I've been doing some traveling and had a bunch of meetings. Not real conducive to weight loss. We're headed to Puerto Vallarta tomorrow for a week's R & R.

I have a fill scheduled for Jan 2. I'm at 9.85 in my 10 cc band, so I know the doc will have some questions. Any of you guys go over the "limit" for fills? I've heard of it, but know it's rare.

The reason I posted under this thread is I've been thinking about where I was a year ago (288 lbs. and 43.8 BMI) and where I'm at today. A year ago I was Morbidly Obese, today I'm 96 lbs lighter and feel like I got my life back. I've checked out pretty thoroughly (prostate, colonoscopy, blood work, etc) and have a clean bill of health with the exception of my battle with arthritis. It's been a GREAT year!

It's great to see many of the other approach your goals. Hopefully we can inspire some newbies like Neal, Jack and others have inspired us.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Great '08!!

Bruce

Hey man,

You fellas have inspired me already. I was banded on 11-27 and am down a total of 40 lbs. I had to buy new pants already and am feeling GREAT! I mean I haven't felt this good in years. I even did Atkins and got down to about 30 Lbs lower than I am now and never felt this good. I still tire easy, but hey... I still weigh 360. Probably less than that. I will weigh in tomorrow at lunch. Wednesday is my "weigh day" I don't even own a scale so I just use my surgeon's digital scale. It is one of those calibrated scales. If I owned a scale I would be OBSESSED!

Keep up the good work fellas. I will meet you on the other side in about a year!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
