Left shoulder pain while eating?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone experienced left shoulder pain while eating? I went to the doctor for my 2 week checkup today. I explained to him that my left shoulder hurts sometimes during the day. It's not excruciating, it feels like gas... just not sure. I am now in the pureed stage, I feel fine otherwise. Vitals are all normal. Just don't understand how the gas pains could still be the culprit.

i have experienced left shoulder pain after eating food that was a little heavier like a meatball or tuna when beganstage three of my diet. i also posted the same question because it was a little worried. others have had the same experience. i am 2 months out and it seemed to go away. i was told by one of my drs that it is very possible it has something to do with the vagus nerve that runs through the stomach and it should go away and sure enough it did. not saying that this is what your pain is but it very well could be.

Thanks I'm going to research that...

Sounds like referred pain.

The nerves of your diaphragm enter the spinal cord at the same level as those of your shoulder. The signals get crossed and you get shoulder pain.

I had this following my surgery for awhile due to the hiatal hernia fix I had at the same time. As stuff passed through the diaphragm I would have shoulder pain.

That's exactly what's happening to me. Thanks I can't wait for this stage to pass.
