I was sleeved on 2/1 and I was just like you. I talked to the anesthesiologist a lot before surgery. I asked him about his experience and I informed him of my reservations in regards to being put to sleep. He assured me I'd be fine and he also gave me something to relax. It was called Versed and it helped. It seemed like the surgery happened so fast. All I remember is getting on the OR table and waking up to my husband in my room. That was my 1st time being put to sleep and I must say it was a great experience. You'll be fine.

I talked to all of my anesthesiologists a lot before surgery. Just spend some time with her or him, they will introduce themselves to you. Ask them ANYTHING. I am a chronic pain patient, so I tell them going in that their tiny little "martinis" might not work on me. They laugh. One said to me once, that he could throw everything at me until I stopped breathing and then they bring me back from that. They're very good. Not to worry about not waking up.

They use monitors for your brain activity, monitors for your breathing, monitors for oxygen levels, brain health, organ health, they have everything timed precisely from the minute they relax you until they get a breathing tube in you and sedated for surgery.

I remember one time I told one of the Dr.s that he'd better watch my brain activity, because I did not want to wake up during surgery! =) He lol'd and said that a bell would go off. They listen to all kinds of beeps. He said I'd only have a problem if he suddenly went deaf during the procedure. =)

You just made me feel 10x better!!

Don't be scared! Its just a few weeks of pain for a life time of happiness. I am over a month post op, I feel like "myself" again and can hardly remember the pain and nausea. Good luck girl!! Just take it one day at a time. The best advice I got before surgery from someone who is 2 years post op is, if you feel tired, then rest. sleep as much as you need and walk walk walk!

I was a little afraid when the anesthesiologist told me he was giving me the same drug that killed Michael Jackson - didn't know if that was humor or truth.... didn't matter after he gave it to me as I was so HAPPY!!

Great drug whatever it was - LOL

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
