What is your barometer for reaching goal ? May have found mine........

The 21" waist... not so much...

You may recall that it was more preposterous in 1939. Scarlett O'Hara's waist in the first few pages and minutes, i.e., the picnic at Twelve Oaks, was 17 inches. Sure, I'm mixing up novel and movie, but, 17 is 17 in any medium. Fiddle-dee-dee.

I like the goal of healthy high school weight. Seems about right to me...

I flirt with it and then cocktails and or vacation or some such derail it....

I'm right back at it the next day though.... Still chugging along years later

Cocktails and vacations are worthy of such.

Great post !!!!

Well.....was 478 lbs with a 58 BMI last June. 422 lbs on the day of my Oct sleeve surgery.

This morning's weigh in found me hitting 3 different cool discoveries: Weighed in at 325 lbs, my BMI is now 39 and it was cold outside 36 degrees, in fact.....and I had to make Breakfast run for my son.....coffee for me. I've been doing laundry and on top was an Under Amour 2XL shirt that had been a gift years ago. Hung onto it even though I could never wear it. Well, I tried it on......and rolled out the door with it.

Things have really taken off quickly after my sleeve was done. Truly a miracle at work and has allowed me to feel much better every day.

It has been very simple, too. Just following the eating guidelines and exercising and being active.

So very grateful.

Long way to go......but I can now see it......reaching my goal and maintenance living. It's not as far away as it seemed last Summer.

Thank you very much.

Truth be told, though.....it really hasn't felt much like work........yet. I know that point is coming, though. Trying to get my resolve all bolstered up and ready for the tough times.

Happy dancing is much appreciated.

20" ????? Really????

I'm nodding my head in respect and shaking your hand. That is awesome !!!!!

I just filled 5 lawn & garden trash bags full of clothes that I donated last week. Have another started and about 1/3 full. I'm so ready to downsize in every way, shape and form.

I think I will try on my wedding dress when I get over 50 lb lost. I don't have many old clothes.

I used to have a pair of "goal" pants that fit me for a brief moment at the beginning of my sophomore year of college. Nothing special, just ones that I really liked from Old Navy. I almost made it in them after doing Weight Watchers about 8 years ago, but then I gained the weight back, and then a lot more. I held onto them until about a year and a half ago, when I had kinda given up and figured that it was pointless to hold onto them, that there was no way I'd ever fit into them again. I'm still kicking myself that I got rid of them! Of course, they'd be too big on me now. :D

Now my clothing motivation for maintenance is--of all things--a British Army women's Auxiliary Territorial Service uniform from 1942. My husband and I recently started doing WWII reenacting (yes, we're nerds!), and I'm able to fit into an original issue uniform for my portrayal. Obviously it's not something you can just pick up in any size at your local Target, so I have to stay small enough to wear it!

Haha, YES! I do costuming as well (have for many years, now getting into Victoria Era and the occasional southern belle outfits). Nerd power!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
