Day one of my two week pre-op diet. ;) Man, I'm excited to get this show on the road. Carb withdrawal, coupled with caffeine withdrawal, (ACK!), I am going to be a peach to be around for a few days! In the words of that esteemed and illustrious philosopher Macho Man Randy Savage.....Ooooh Yeeaaaahhhh!!!

I was Cruela by the end of my pre-op diet and it actually ruined the vanilla flavor for me. I had to drink three bariatric Meal Replacement shakes a day and one lean meat no card meal with veggies. The shakes were vanilla, now I can't eat anything vanillas flavored. Weird I know.

I bet. Believe it or not, this next two weeks is what I've been dreading the most. I'm not concerned about succeeding, just know I'm going to feel miserable initially. Once I'm past the first few days, I'll feel better. A lot of people who post on here mark the day they made the decision to have surgery as their turning point, for me, the day I start actively moving towards health and away from obesity is mine. That day...is TODAY! (Cue Monty Python trumpets). :D

Thanks man!

The pre-op diet is no fun at all. I'd love to tell you it gets easier post-op, but the first few weeks post-op are pretty miserable in their own right. So you have some rough weeks ahead, but there is light at then end of the tunnel.... distant light....

I think if you can cut down the whole journey into days, it might make it easier for you. The ol', "Divide and Conquer" theory.

How does one eat a whole steer? One bite at a time!

Get through today successfully and tomorrow will be another day to start over with successful day behind you, then two, then three, etc...

We are all here, rooting for you--starting to warm up your spot on, "The Losers' Bench". You'll join us in no time.

As long as it doesn't turn into a freaking train, I'm good with that. ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
