Low BMI slow losing encouragement thread

Recommended Posts

This is the Low BMI slow losing encouragement thread.

Here I am yet again at a month long stall. Almost 4 months out and down 35 lbs. I'm doing everything right and getting frustrated. I lost weight lots of times in the past and yes I couldn't keep it off but why is this time so much slower. It doesn't make sense to me.

I'm excited to get this weight off and start my new life!!!

Comparing with low Bmi'ers is always reassuring.

My longest stall was three months. I lost my weight really slowly also. What I did notice was during a stall I would lose more inches, it's your body trying to catch up. So in a stall weigh every other week instead of each week and take your measurements weekly instead. Also usually when a stall breaks you lose more weight over the next couple of weeks than you otherwise would have. This is a long hard process, keep you head up, stay focused and it will happen. All you have to do is compare what you are eating now to what you used to eat. There is no way you could not lose weight!!!! I am here to help if you have any questions!

I started at 216 on Aug. 18 and just hit the 50 lb loss. I have been slow at losing, too. I just keep thinking what I will have lost by the one year mark and that makes me feel good.

I'm just now hitting 100 lbs down at 14 months out. I don't care how long it took me; I'm thrilled. And bonus is that my skin is barely crinkly or saggy right now. I may just come out of this with minimal issues since it will take about a year to see if the skin tightens up any. That would make me super happy to be a slow loser!!

I stall out for at least a week every month. Sometimes I don't lose anything for over a month. I still see progress because the tape measure keeps getting better results.

And I'm really, really into exercising now (at least compared to old me) and my stamina is amazing me now. I did 9 miles yesterday. Not all at once, but I did it, and I can tell you, old me probably didn't walk/jog 9 miles in 2 weeks let alone 1 day.

I still need to lose 30 pounds to hit my personal goal. I know I'll make it eventually. I have no doubt. It might take me 2 years, but I will get there, and I'm going to be in such amazing shape it will have been totally worth the wait. :D

I started on day of surgery at 189.5 and today (one day shy of 6 weeks) was 169.

I really focus on vegetables, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, (both good protein) and lean meat. I will start adding some fruit in this next week. But I avoid Pasta, rice, bread, or any simple carbs. I also drink tons of Water and herbal tea. I really feel that lower carb is the most healthy for me. I have done low carb in the past and could never really stick to it. But this surgery has changed my hunger and appetite and has enabled me to eat to live instead of live to eat.

Well, seems there is a silver lining in the slow losing lane....no hair shedding and no loose skin (yet). Saving me $ on plastic surgery! Didn't think of that before..,,

This surgery has changed my life and my attitude. Good luck to everyone and it will come off. Take your time and enjoy yourself.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
