Then on the other hand I feel like if I can conquer my biggest fear why would I have the anxiety anymore?!? I just don't want to scare myself out of surgery!!! I want this so bad I don't want to let my fears scare me from getting it! Is anyone else scared of the anesthesia and if so please share!!! ????

I had my gallbladder removed last year and will admit that getting put under scared me. Everything went well and now I am getting my sleeve surgery and have all the faith it will go as good as the first time. Fear is hard to conquer but just imagine the end result of the surgery. Best of luck with everything.

The nice thing about anesthesia is they normally give you some feel good "cocktails" before you go to surgery and this helps with the anesthesia anxiety. I too worry but have done it several times and the "cocktail" always helps me relax. Good luck! We can do this.

Truly, the Best. sleep. Ever. You won't remember a thing and will wake up back in your room. It feels like it was an instant.

Aprilnicole, be sure and tell the anesthesiologist about your anxiety. He/she will give you something to relax you before helping you sleep. Once you receive the medicine to relax you, you will still be kind of aware of your surroundings, but I guarantee it will take away any anxiety you feel. I was the same way, but i learned how to ask for what I needed. After they help you go to sleep, it will only seem like a minute until you wake up in recovery. And you will wake up and you will begin to conquer that anxiety you feel. I wish you all the best as you approach, go through the surgery, and recover. My surgery is tomorrow morning, so wish me luck!

I just had surgery friday and that was my biggest concern. They do give you a relax medicine through the iv before the bring you to the OR. It hit me just as soon as we hit the doors to go in. They put you on the table then have you breath into a mask. Your out after 3 deep breaths in. My surgery took about 4 hours maybe. It's gonna be okay.

I had surgery Monday and the anxiety was crazy. I even got extra life insurance just in case, because I was NOT going to not go through with it. When I got to the hospital and had changed to not my gown it's like everything was going 5x speed. They were rolling me down the hall to anesthesiology and I was all wait, wait, lol. I was the first surgery of the day! But I told my anesthesiologist I was nervous and he was like OK.... Here's a little something for the anxiety that was put in my IV line. It felt like a movie. Next thing I know (after having already answering my questions and telling them I had a two year old to wake up to) he said OK, count back from ten. Let me tell you, I got out the T of ten and I was waking up in recovery.

You will do fine!!!! And I'll make room for ya over here on the losers bench. I've lost 19 pounds in one week!!!

Make sure you think something positive right before they put you out. That is the thought you will wake up with. No time passes for you, you close your eyes then you open them. Think positive, it really helps.

I felt the same as you prior to my first surgery in 2010. You are right about conquering that anxiety.

For my WLS in Dec 2015 I had almost no anxiety at all. You can do this!!! Best wishes to you.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
