Debilitating shoulder pain

Recommended Posts

Hey I'm more than one year post op and STILL suffering from the same shoulder pain

That I had immed after surgery. Any advice on treating symptoms?. I'm hoping I'm not alone with this but the pain is so debilitating that it wakes me from sleep.

When I take a deep breathe the pain becomes even sharper/more severe. I have taken 7 gas ex (combo of melt away tabs and chewables today so far). I have been unable to find relief. I'm hoping that someone here has a suggestion to treat this ongoing problem

I'm so sorry you're going through that!

I never experienced any of the trapped gas pain from my sleeve, but I had gallbladder surgery many years ago and can still remember how bad that hurts.

If you're experiencing anything close to that level of pain, that is your body telling you something is wrong and you need to see a doctor about it.

I can't imagine how it could be trapped gas by this point, but if you're in that much pain, please go get a professional opinion.

Sounds like if it is that bad you need a doctor's opinion. It's your life! Take care of yourself.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
