bevewhite 25 Posted February 14, 2016 My surgery is in 10 days and I thought yesterday, I need to have a food funeral and eat what I like since I see the doctor on Wednesday and I am sure he will start me on a diet a week out from the surgery. Well, I had Mexican food yesterday for lunch with an " adult beverage", and I was miserable ALL day and into the evening from the reflex. I have a large hernia that needs to be fixed and that is going to be done at the same time as the sleeve. Even though the literature states that people can develop reflux and GERD after a sleeve, my doctor believes that fixing my hernia and doing the sleeve will actually improve my symptoms. I sure hope it will.
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted February 14, 2016 You are learning the difference between listening to what your digestive system is telling you and what your taste buds are telling you. Once you have had your bariatric surgery, your new tummy will be the BOSS of you forever, and will be sure to make you miserable for hours if you push its buttons. You new tummy will humble you quickly and do everything it can to bring you into submission. Of course you can override your hard-learned lessons and gain back all the weight you lose, but it won't be because your body didn't communicate to you what it needs. It's hard to comply, but once you mess up the third or fourth time, you will get the message. I wish you an uncomplicated surgery and easy recovery.
