Ebony and Ivory - Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder

And I have to say, I have read a lot of rude comments and understand that it can be frustrating to see the same questions posted over and over and whatnot, but we are all here for similar reasons-support. It gets irritating when people bash instead of doing just that, supporting a fellow sleever/bypasser/bander/etc...We were all newbies or inexperienced with this site at one point and it can be confusing for some, especially if on a mobile site instead of the full site on a computer. I get the "tough-love", sometimes it's needed; I'm only speaking to the rude or downright nasty comments that some post. Rather than be an a$$, just keep scrolling as a previous poster had said.

Dang clearly I missed the post with all the cursing out! I love them for the entertainment value!

Henri Mancini's love theme to Romeo and Juliet, how boring!

Forgot to say this above: While or because the topic being referred to was ultra bizarre and trashy, it was the single funniest thing I've seen in BariatricPal. I wish it hadn't been deleted.

I'm so bummed I can't read it!

Oh wait was this the "unsuccessful sleeve" post? Did it get worse? Dang I miss all the fun!

I have no idea what the actual ratio of posters to lurkers is at www.bariatricpal.com, but I'll cite the well known "1% rule (Internet culture)," which says only 1% of visitors to interactive sites create new content. If that's true here, for every person who creates threads and posts comments at this site 99 other people are reading and lurking the things we post.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1%25_rule_(Internet_culture)

I lurked for just over a year before joining!

"Henry Mancini's love theme to Romeo and Juliet, how boring!"

The thread in question was my first exposure to heavy-duty cussin' directed at individuals in a site of this type and I'm a little surprised that it wasn't the first.

It wasn't the "unsuccessful sleeve" topic, Jess. The misspelled "Judgement" was in the title followed by a question on whether it's okay to smoke weed after surgery. I can't quote chapter and verse for you, but imagine a Tasmanian Devil trapped in a pit with people reaching in to help. Then imagine the Tasmanian devil going berserk, spitting and hissing in all directions, insisting on being lifted from its hole only as it wishes to be lifted. The more people come along to assist, the more vicious the creature becomes. In the end the creature seems to be spitting, hissing and nipping in all directions because that's all it knows. Then throw in a laugh track.

Henry Mancini is an icon. Cheer up, you got a good one. I'm the one who got the novelty song, "Mañana."

I totally missed that one, too. Bummer. I thought the OP was talking about the classy hushxpuppyx in the stretched sleeve thread.

There's an ongoing "Marijuana and Life after Bariatric Surgery" thread that hasn't gotten volatile, so I guess the deleted thread was all about a particular participant rather than the subject.

Sounds entertaining!

No knocking Henri Mancini, just prefer songs I can sing along to!

Exactly @@jess9395 I couldn't quite get where they were going or what they actually wanted. Almost like they expected what certain responses.

^^^ Funny! And that's exactly what that OP / thread looked like.

Weirdly, the OP's writing style in that thread was considerably different from his/her earlier posts when she/he first arrived here.

Anyway ... no biggie. Onward.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
