kinkymoo 20 Posted February 16, 2016 I hate it all too. We're twinsies. I get mopey and petulant about it. I drag my feet, and I think runners high is a goddamn myth. It hurts everything. My back, my head, my chest, all my muscles, and DOMS are not a good feeling. I hate walking around hurting all the time. It fucks up my sleep, it makes me miserable, very cranky, and often hungry too. But I also want an ass you can bounce a quarter off.....so squats it is!! BarrySue 602 Posted February 16, 2016 I feel you, OP. I don't exercise. I just don't. I would rather be punched in the face (matter of fact, if being punched in the face burned calories, I'd willfully endure it on a regular basis). However, I do try and stay active. I go to malls. Theme parks. Shopping centers. I park far away from my classes and walk all around campus, choosing to visit buildings/far off places on campus (I attend the 2nd largest college in the country, it's HUGE). I even take two flights of stairs twice a week for my one class on the 3rd floor. In the end, I do quite a bit of walking. But I don't exercise. I do plan to start weight/resistance training to build up muscle, but I'll never be a cardio bunny, and jogging is against my religion.
dietbelle 36 Posted February 17, 2016 I am with you but it is amazing just going for a walk/stroll everyday just to do something that you know is good for you. I was sleeved recently prior to my operation I just started walking to the end of the street. I decided to take it slow and look at what was happening in my street. I started walking again yesterday and yes it hurt and yes I was exhausted when I got home. It's a start. I will never join a gym or run 5k that's not my goal. It's just to have a normal BMI and be able to walk non stop for an 1 hr Small goals If the sun is shining it's wonderful to get that Vitamin D
TJBintheOC 104 Posted February 18, 2016 I don't go to the gym or exercise...I just walk. It's something you can do forever. ️
akpiedra 8 Posted February 19, 2016 I had gastric sleeve in July 2015 and in January 2016 I joined a gym. I hate going, getting ready and working out! However, I made this my job to go 3 times a week, Tues, Thurs and Saturdays. I battle every Tues, Thurs and Saturday to come up with reasonable excuses of why I cant go. I decided that If I cannot come up with an excuse that truly outweighs the benefits of spending ONE hour at the gym, I will go. Low and behold, I have NEVER missed a day! My favorite quote: "Change Nothing and Nothing Changes" this rings so true with me. Good Luck!
24601 210 Posted February 19, 2016 I used to be a runner. I hate running. Everytime, I would run for a few months, then burnout and stop exercising all together. It was definitely something an all or nothing scenario. Then I found taekwondo. I love it! I found Zumba. I love it! I found body combat (mixed martial arts class). I love it! I don't run anymore. It completely is about finding something that makes you tick, or at least not dread. Also, losing weight makes everything so.much.easier to do!
Babbs 14,681 Posted February 19, 2016 I have a love/hate relationship with excersise. I do it, but I love to hate it. I look at it as one of the things I just have to do now. After 18 months, it's as natural as bathing or brushing my teeth. It's just all part of my self care. I may not love it, but it's got to be done. Kind of like doing laundry. HanSolo1977 261 Posted February 19, 2016 (edited) I can echo what others say about just finding something you like. There's always going to be something that gets your heart rate up that you like doing. [emoji6] Edited February 19, 2016 by HanSolo1977
Cindy Fantl 0 Posted February 20, 2016 I, too, hate exercise. I despise gyms! I do like to walk when it's nicer weather out. (too cold right now). I have a stationary bike in my bedroom. I do 4 miles 5-6 times a week, but that's all the exercise I get, until it gets nicer outside. My knees need to be replaced, which was one of the reasons I got this surgery. The bone dr. told me he would only replace my knees if I lose weight. My knees are swollen, and in pain from exercising. I was told the bike is better on my knees, than walking, Swimming would be best, but I can't afford the Y, or a gym with a pool, so I'll just stick to the bike, for now. Believe me, I know exactly what you mean. People push the exercise, but it's just not me. I sometimes try to dance a little around the house while I clean it, but my knees do not like that. Not worth the pain and swelling!
amyg80 45 Posted February 20, 2016 I actually like it. I never regret a workout after I'm done. Do I have to talk myself into it many time. Yes. With that said, I despised working out too. For so long it was like a chore. Every time I started a new routine I'd quit after a few weeks. Then I'd try to get back on track but dreaded going to the gym so I'd quit altogether. What I've realized is that I actually didn't despise the gym, I despised me giving up all the time. If I ignored the gym, I wouldn't have to worry about starting something new, quitting it, and disappointing myself. I was so tired of disappointing myself. After I got the sleeve I knew that i had just done something drastic and I better make the best of it. So I let go of the idea of hating the gym or working out, and told myself that I would not give up again. That I would set out to do one program at a time and finish it. And this is what I've done. I'm one week away from finishing my 1st c25k programs which I have tried many times in the past to complete but would give up. So ask urself. Do you despise work or do you despise the constant disappointment of not accomplishing ur workout goals. There's a difference.

I know eternity exists...because I have kids and laundry. I don't know where you live, but if you climb a mountain once a month, you will burn all the excess calories you need for the month, plus the views are great. (According to myfitnesspal.com I burned over 5000 calories on this hike).
sweetsavannah 20 Posted February 22, 2016 I usually dread exercise, but I never ever regret it. The feeling after a great workout is indescribable! I try to think of exercise as chasing that feeling / chasing after excellent health. The scale will show your efforts!
RoscoColetrain 103 Posted February 24, 2016 I've never been a runner or a walker. I can do it but it's one of the most boring aggravating mind numbing hateful things I've had to do. I used to love weight training and swimming though. Ok...not swimming Playing in the Water.< /p>
eclecticwingtips 130 Posted February 24, 2016 I have only just started on this exercise thing. I got myself a treadmill and i have a rule that if i want to watch my favourite shows i have to be walking. It has got me on there almost every day since i got it. Im still pre surgery so it takes me two days to watch a 40 min show but im getting there and building my fitness. The tv shows help distract me from my sweating and my aching body Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
SassyNanny 311 Posted February 24, 2016 (edited) I started going to the Y for sit and fit ( uses weights and hand sized balls. (Much harder than it looks). I'm 65 and usually the youngest in the class. There are 94 year olds and disabled people who show up daily. I do it 2 days a week and Aqua 3 days a week. I figure if they can show up I have no excuses. I had a cold today and went anyways. I've decided it's my new "job". I use bigger weights than some members and it is a real workout. I dry off after the pool, wrap up in my oversized terry robe and go home to take a bath. I'm not hating it anymore.
