Hello @@glitterdaisies :)

I have pretty severe PCOS. It's one of the big reasons I chose to have surgery. I will be six months post-op in 4 days.

My periods have come back, albeit not necessarily smoothly. Before surgery, it had been many years since I got a normal period. Actually, it hasn't really been normal since I first got it at age ten. The fact that I'm getting it every month now, even if it's completely inconsistent, is a good sign. I have some bloodwork done at the end of December, and there isn't any change in my hormone imbalance, but then again, it's only been six months and even now my body is all off-kilter and in a state of frenzy as I continue to lose weight, sometimes a pound a day. So I have hope for the future.

I have noticed that my skin has gotten MUCH better. I had the common skin ailment that comes with PCOS (acanthosis nigricans... it's the dark Patches of skin on your neck/inner thighs/armpits/chest/etc) and that has all but disappeared! I've been dealing with that since I was ten and to finally be able to go out in public with my neck uncovered is a huge relief.

All in all, I haven't noticed a huge change. But I'm seeing progress. I'll let you know how it is in August when I reach 1 year post-op. :P

I also have PCOS and need to lose about 112 pounds. I'm pre-op and one of the reasons I want bypass is seeing results where some women are experiencing reversals of the symptoms, including fatigue. The fits of fatigue are the worst for me. Add to that backne and the dark spots and insulin resistance which makes it very difficult to lose and/or keep weight off and the hirutism.

I feel the same, too! I have a 2 y/o and nap every time he does. I'm so tired of being tired. My insulin resistance sucks. When I try to eat "healthy," I end up getting the shakes.

Good luck and keep us updated!! ????

Thanks and I will! ????

I have PCOS complete with thinning hair, carrying my wait around my middle, skin/acne issues, and irregular/nonexistent periods. I am also almost 3 months post op. My hair is still thin, my middle is getting smaller, but still carry my weight there, my acne has nearly completely cleared, but that started when I gave up Diet coke. About 5 years ago my periods went away for 2 years and when they returned, they were and are completely regular although heavier than before.

That may sound like all bad news so far, but my hair hasn't gotten any thinner so I have hope. My tummy is getting smaller and my acne is gone for the first time since childhood. I have hope! I have come to accept that my hair may get thinner, but then it might come back thick again like when I was younger!

I have heard from many people that the surgery has helped and it hasn't made anything worse yet, including my periods being right on schedule even days after surgery so things are looking hopeful.

Had PCOS for 20 years prior to surgery and now 13 months post op - almost all the symptoms are gone!

Facial hair only half as bad as it was before, i have regular periods (blech), no painful cysts, still a little big around the middle, but much better! no acne, I took Biotin for 4 months prior to surgery to help with hair thinning and i think it made a huge difference so I still take it! My A1C levels are normal too!

so I would think that anyone with PCOS should see things get much better.

Thank you for the hope!

Did anyone else regularly take PPIs (medium, Prilosec etc)-I just read that they can cause magnesium deficiency which can cause PCOS. I started taking PPIs and my PCOS symptoms started after that. Could be coincidence but something to watch. Hopefully no more PPIs after surgery & just overall better health :)

I'm pretty sure they don't know what causes PCOS. I do take Protonix but I didn't start until after I was diagnosed with PCOS. Last time I researched it, they still have no idea what causes it, and it will probably be more than a few years before they have any concrete, clinically studied ideas.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
