frmfat2fit 27 Posted February 13, 2016 I am post op day 4 and can add in a Protein Shake to sip on all day. Here's the problem, the vegan Protein blend I used during the pre op diet is not something I can drink slowly. I barely choked it down drink it fast. I tried a whey protein shake and now have issues. Any suggestions? Thanks
2goldengirl 2,076 Posted February 13, 2016 Hmm. I have lactose intolerance and I'm able to handle the premixed Premier Protein shakes without any trouble. Have you tried chewing a lactaid when you use the whey?
Kindle 8,667 Posted February 14, 2016 What vegan blend are you using? I found Spirutein to be quite tasty. But as with all Protein powders, I have to mix it with twice as much liquid as the instructions said or it is too thick and sweet for my liking. Was the Protein powder 100% whey isolate? That has a lot less lactose than other dairy-based Proteins. Are you allowed Greek yogurt yet? It, too, has less lactose than regular yogurt. How about Lactaid milk? That has 8g Protein per cup. frmfat2fit 27 Posted February 14, 2016 I was using a vegan blend of pea, hemp, and cranberry Protein and it is heavy and thick.

Kindle 8,667 Posted February 14, 2016 I was using a vegan blend of pea, hemp, and cranberry Protein and it is heavy and thick. Try diluting it with Water, juice, almond milk or lactaid. You can even change up the flavor with Torani syrups.< /p>
frmfat2fit 27 Posted February 14, 2016 I do use a Torani Syrup caramel it tastes okay initially but to drink it slowly pretty much all day is where it starts tasting nasty. I have even refrigerated it in between. Thanks for the feedback though.

ocgirl15 667 Posted February 14, 2016 I have been lactose intolerant for probably 30 years. I can drink the Isopure zero carb ready to drink from GNC without using lactaid. I like blue raspberry the best. Good luck!
Fame 53 Posted February 15, 2016 I became lactose intolerant post sleeve. At first premier shakes didn't settle well, but about 3 months out I can drink 1/2 (15 grams of protein) at a time. If I drink the whole thing at once I get sick.
chandra84 27 Posted February 15, 2016 I am not lactose intolerant but i am on Clear liquids. My surgery was 5 days ago. I found after surgery I couldn't stomach the Isopure. It made me gag. So I looked for another option and found a non flavored protien powder at Walmart for 20$. I mix that with Water and crystal light. Hope this helps. Sent from my SM-G925P using BariatricPal I can't stomach Isopure, either, so I use a vanilla EAS shake mix and add different sugar free coffee syrups. strawberry is my favorite. I have used a cheap brand, from Walmart, that was a Cookies and Cream flavor. It was really good. I guess I am lucky that my lactose intolerance hasn't been as bad after my surgery. Before, I had it really bad and it was almost like dumping syndrome after eating something with lactose. Don't they have a soy Protein shake mix? I have seen a couple, at Walmart, but never tried them. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G860P using BariatricPal Edited February 16, 2016 by TinaF_1971
