My instructions for the hospital said do not wear nail polish. Now I wear acrylic nails, do you guys think that I would need to soak the acrylic off?

Yes, you need to take the acrylic off so that the anesthesiologist can clearly see your nail beds. Is one of the ways they determine oxygenation, I believe.

I didn't have to. I've heard so many different answers. I'd just do what they tell you to however.

For what it's worth, they just put the finger monitor on me and it worked. SMH

Removing nail polish was the "old school" way of monitoring capillary refill in the nail beds. Now a days, we use monitors to measure your O2 saturations. I actually plan of going and getting a mani and pedi a day or two before my surgery date of February 24th. Best of luck to you

There are still surgeons and anesthesiologists that will utilize the nail bed assessment, even with new equipment. I would do whatever they told you to do.
