Can someone tell me if you have a band slippage does that mean you need your band removed. I am having acid reflux and call my Doc today. They are giving me a prescription for previcid. Then my Doc want me to have a test to see if it has slipped. What will I do if they said it has slipped. I a kinda freaking out. I have had my band almost two year and I am at goal loss of 100 pound. I dont want anything to change. Please give me advice or expriences please.

Generally, they will give you an unfill to see if the band will reposition itself. This helps in many cases. In some cases, like mine, another surgery is required to reposition the band. In other cases, the band is removed and may be replaced after a few months. If there is erosion or other complications, it may not be replaced. I would just follow your doctor's advice and take it easy on your band. liquids if possible. I wish you the best of health and that your band is A-OK!!

I had a slip in 2004. I had never had a fill, and there was a lot of bruising; so I had to have it removed. You've had your band awhile, so I think the process is to remove saline and let the band move back into place. I've had my second band a year now, and my Doc uses floro so I always know placement is ok.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
