I am currently in the process of getting all my appointments done to submit to insurance...I had went to my normal pcp for a sinus infection & we found that I had high blood pressure. Because of this she ordered an ecg and in the office they said it looked fine, now 2 weeks later I get a call the ecg was irregular & I need to set up a stress test...I'm freaking out! Is this going to mean no surgery? I'm really nervous!

Don't stress yourself out. It is better that they make sure you have no small cardiac issues before the surgery and are being cautious.

If they notice a little something out of the ordinary, they might only just monitor you closer, perform the procedure very slightly differently or prescribe a medicine for the short term.

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV.

For your piece of mind, maybe have your cardiologist's nurse explain what they saw?

Don't stress about it - my ecg was normal and the cardiologist still wanted a stress test just to make sure. Get the stress test and meet with the cardiologist. The doctor will be able to explain what was seen and what it means.

There are a few people here on the forum whose pre-op testing saved them from serious disease. For myself, it happened when I had the ultrasound of my liver. My belly was really tender and had been for a few days, so she checked in that spot, too.

OMG, I had an ischemic colon. I spent 8 days in the hospital trying not to have some colon removed or die. My doctor told me later on that he thought he was going to lose me. My sleeve surgery was already scheduled for a month out and went on as planned.

Delay is not denial.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
