One-on-one holiday exercise challenge, anyone?

Recommended Posts

Did three miles on treadmill Monday and will do three again today when I get home from work.

I went to Curves but they said I have to wear a Sports Bra if I want to join. Whats up with that...

Looks like everyone is off to a good start. Lets tough it up ladies and gentleman. and keep it up. Jan third may not be till next year but we can make it.

Lisa. Hmmm want a mans point of view on how to keep the food out while traveling???

Ok since you said yes...here it is.. "Duct Tape". Can't put it in if you can't get it open. (stay focused here folks no comments)

focus... focus... Walked dog for 50 minutes this morning, hope to do more later; getting additional strength-training workout by restraining self from typing dirty response to Greg's comment.

What's up with the gag order? Hmm..... Duct tape, indeed. :D

I will be swimming laps today when I take 5 kids to the movies and the pool. Am I nuts or what??? I used to have a day care home, but I was under 30 then. We'll see if my old grandma bones can keep up. :)

FINE! I tredged through frozen sleet and hail the size of golfballs ploughing through 6 foot snow drifts... walked to the park then did TWO laps around (nice walking trail around my park.) I nearly died of frostbite JUST FOR YOU PEOPLE. Well, there really wasn't any snow or hail, but I think I saw some fog on the windshields.

So now Greg is wearing a sports bra with his g-string?

Shopped on line for 2 hours, hung out in lapbandtalk forum for a while, building up quite a lot of strength in the right hand. Ewwww I hate to exercise, but I know I gotta do it. I was walking up and down the stairs, WAS.

PS..bought 2 Christmas presents and 9 new items for my house, free shipping, JCPENNEY....code word..THNKFS...don't tell anybody.

Thanks, Leatha. It's pretty hard to get all geared up for exercise, but once I get moving I do pretty good. My mutts LOVE the walk!

Maybe our dogs should join the challenge. My pudgy Lab mix could definitely afford to lose a few pounds, and she's loving the extra hour of squirrel chasing each morning.

My big dog needs a band. He got a can of cashews off the table and managed to chew the top off and eat the entire contents. Last year he ate a 2 pound box of See's candy that was wrapped under the tree without even disturbing one glass ornament (and ate most of the box and ribbon, too.)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
