Thigh Lift: Worth It?

Recommended Posts

Well now I really don't know what I'm going to do. My surgeon is recommending a spiral thigh lift. I didn't even know what that was, but I looked it up and now I think I have a good understanding of it.

This PDF has some good info, photos, and diagrams for anyone who is curious:

It is a much more significant surgery than I was planning on and I assume comes with a corresponding increase in recovery time. It also means new scars and that is the part where my husband really pitched a fit. A lot of it would replace/tie into my existing TT scar. But there would be new scars under my butt cheeks, in my groin crease (we were already planning on that with the medial thigh lift), and at the front of my pubic triangle, basically making a full triangle with where my TT scar already comes across the top. It's those new scars in the front my husband is most concerned about. And he really kind of hurt my feelings when we were discussing it last night, admitting that he doesn't like my existing scars and he preferred when I was just misshapen, pretty much. It was kind of a shock, because it's been 4.5 years since my first round of plastics and I never knew he felt that way about my scars. Now I am second guessing my plans to have any more plastics at all. I really feel like it's what I want to feel good about myself and confident, but if he thinks it's gross or unattractive, that might be a deal breaker.

I don't really know how to proceed at this point. I'm feeling pretty defeated. At least I don't have to make any decisions for a while, because I know I won't be getting any surgery done until after my half marathon in April, and possibly not until the running season is over sometime in the fall.

I am so sorry your husband responded to you in such a negative way. It is hard to feel good about oneself or to proceed with ones hopes and desires when you lack the support of your loved ones. To me, our scars tell the story of our journey; one that is filled with our despair, our dreams, our hope, our fight and our accomplishments. Don't let your husbands comments make you feel negative about them or your journey. My spiral thigh lift improved my legs a great deal. They are not perfect and despite how clean I eat or how much I workout, the upper back thighs have had a little bit of cellulite return. However, I love the overall results. If the spiral is going to make you feel better and garner some confidence that you have been lacking, then I hope you continue to pursue it. Good luck to you, @JamieLogical.

@@NewSetOfCurves Thanks for the words of encouragement and it's great to hear you are happy with the results of your spiral lift. I don't know how I'll ultimately proceed, but I had a good cry on my lunch break and I'm feeling slightly better now.

I am considering an inner and outer thigh lift. I would prefer that the inner thigh lift only be done with a horizontal incision in the groin crease, as I do not want the vertical scar. For the outer thigh lift, I am hoping the incision can be tied into my existing Tummy Tuck scar.

I am a runner and I'm completing my first half marathon on April 24th. I am concerned about the amount of recovery time I will need before I can start running again. I am worried about the higher risk of incision reopening and infection associated with inner thigh lifts. And I am wondering if it is really worth it. I love the results of my tummy tuck and breast lift w/ implants and would definitely do those procedures all over again, but the thigh lift seems less necessary, more risky, and less likely to have significant results.

For anyone who has had a thigh lift, do you feel it was worth it? What was your recovery like?

I had a long thigh lift in early december and it was totally worth it. Even I was worried about the higher risk of incision reopening and infection that would be associated with it but the procedure gave good results. Before you take the procedure, learn about the thigh lift procedure, it's do's and dont's etc. This article might be helpful for you in that case.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
