jhbeck 29 Posted February 10, 2016 I'm almost a week post op and almost every single sip is followed by one, or many, burps. The surgical gas pain is gone, except for the new gas with each sip. But I don't really want to go sit in my cubicle and burp all day long. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie,
Bigmommaburr 0 Posted February 10, 2016 I am almost 4 weeks post and still burp and my stomach gurgles. The burping is a little better but still there. I start soft food tomorrow so I'm hoping it will go away.
MrsSugarbabe 727 Posted February 10, 2016 I'm more than a year out and still burp some and tummy still gurgles for a bit immediately after eating. Not sure it will ever stop, but I'm okay with that.
Christine Vieira 8 Posted February 10, 2016 It's been 2 1/2 years since my sleeve surgery and I still burp a lot after a meal for about 20 minutes or so. I have to try to remember to slow down, not drink during the meal and definitely less chatting during the meal. Sometimes it can be so uncomfortable feeling full of gas like that the only that would help would be to vomit. That only happens when I've clearly overeaten. because 63 Posted February 14, 2016 I'm 6 days out and I think that is my full alert. Or drinking too fast. I slow down drinking and it goes away. I stop eating when the ripple gurgle burp happens. About 5 baby spoons of creamed Soup. Even if I wait that is all I can hold. I was a volume eater so this was a real shock, but no hunger balances this. Pescador 1,374 Posted February 14, 2016 2 1/2 years also, still burping. Small price to pay. Depends on the food, how fast you eat, etc.
Xena7158 26 Posted February 14, 2016 As you can see from everyone's responses, everyone has different experiences - so there is no way for anyone to know when you will stop burping, lol. Here's my experience to add to the pile... Right after surgery, for about 3-4 weeks, I had many little burps after every single sip - but I was glad for them, getting gas out etc. That was when I was on clear, and then full liquids only. Since I started adding purees about a week ago, it's much less burping with each sip of liquid, but still some, maybe one or two - but I'm trying to get those burps! I do get small burps every other bite of puree'd food or so now too, but they are much less pronounced, or smaller maybe than with liquids. I'm only 25 days out or so now, so I guess we'll see what happens!
