I will be having conversion surgery from lapband to gastric sleeve on next week. I know this will be difficult because of the conversion but I'm also 66 years old. Is there anyone else that is as ancient as I and how was it? I also need a good recommendation on a good clear Protein Drink for the week after surgery. Please help.

I am not nearly as ancient as you (I am a mere 51), but I have had a great experience. I was sleeved April 20, 2015 and started with a super high BMI. I couldn't be happier with my progress so far.

I am 64 and had the sleeve surgery 3 mos ago. It was easy for me. No issues with gas getting trapped, no pain and no complications. My only issue was pre-op......my surgery was scheduled for noon and didn't happen until 5pm. I was a nervous wreck by then and thirsty and hungry. As far as a Protein drink, I couldn't stand anything sweet for about a month after surgery. I was so lucky that my surgeon starts patients on cream Soups when they come home from the hosp and then soft mushies on week 2. Now I drink the premixed Premier Protein from costco. I mix the choc one with a Tblspoon of cocoa powder and lots of ice and put it in the blender. I also bought some NOW beef Gelatin powder on Amazon and mix it with broth. It has 9 grams of protein. I hope this helps and all goes well with your surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
