Insurance approval

Recommended Posts

I had my last dietician appointment on the 5th , n all the info from the 6 months long clearance is finally over n done with, now I'm just waiting by my phone for the surgeons office to call me with the date ( should be towards the end of this month ). The thought of getting denied by the insurance company hasn't cross my mind till now ???????????????? n it's freaking me out so I just need for them to call me ASAP before my nerves take over

The wait was the worst part for me after that six month long diet and then appointments for this and that. I called a week and a half after my Drs office was suppose to file for approval and they hadn't yet. I was so annoyed. I bugged after that with repeated calls.

I couldn't stand the wait so I called my insurance company yesterday, papers were submitted after my last appointment on the first, and they told me I was approved!! Give it a week or two, you'll know soon enough!

I would call..It wouldn't hurt. Plus that way you can make sure they have everything they need.

I would! I'm inpatient like that lol

lmao ok but what exactly do I say to them

You can just call and tell them you are checking on the status of your VSG approval. My insurance called it pre-certification.

Just what Dede said. That would be perfect. I would say I'm just calling to check the status of my pre certification status on an upcoming surgery my doctor submitted to you this past week. They'll tell you! I'm excited for you! Good luck!

@@ryn2short I called my insurance company today. The representative said she flagged my request so anytime there is a status change she will call me. That way if they need additional information I can stay on top of my doctors office to get it in.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
