Stage 2 fears

Recommended Posts

I start stage 2 of my diet tomorrow. I get to add soft foods. I all of the sudden am scared. I'm so afraid I'm

Not going to make the right choices. That I am going to be tempted to cheat. That I'm going to fail. I had so many nightmares last night about loosing things that were important to me, or important to my job. My NUT is 4 hours away and I have another appointment with her next month.

My husband is being SUPER SUPPORTIVE. He is going to start eating what I eat starting tomorrow. I am just scared. Anyone else feel this way?

In some ways, yes! I'm not where you are yet ... but I am worried about harming my new stomach. I'm even reluctant to take some medicines because I have this idea that it is so delicate and wounded.

I have first follow up in 2 days, thank GOD. And I see my surgeon.

I think the people here know a lot! And the replies will help a lot, too.

You've come this far, so I bet you will be golden making it through the next phase. Bariatricfoodie.com was mentioned to people in another thread. I went there and it IS a fabulous site for help through these issues. =)

Here is my advice.....feeling scared in normal. First time I dumped was CRAZY scary.....but you will make it out the other side... I promise.

1) no wrong choices... remind yourself, you are just learning. And what happens if you make a wrong choice? 1) get sick - ok, that is manageable 2) the food goes down and you need to see how you feel after you eat = learning....

2) take a moment to show confidence. You have read the materials - you know the calorie targets. You have got this. Think of it like a puzzle... you have to just find the right solution for the puzzle.

3) don't be afraid to ask us for opinions. At soft food stage for me, I ate eggs, tuna and avocado ad Protein shakes. I definitely took my time adding in more foods. My food was set for like a full week.....Got tired of it but it worked. You will start to build up as you learn your sleeve likes and dislikes.

Thank you so much for that!! I do need to remember that I am learning and if I make mistakes I will learn! One mistake is not the end. But I am going to try my hardest to not make mistakes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
