So frustrated I feel like I could cry.

I hate to be another "I haven't lost any" whiner and I know it's normal and I know I should accept a stall. But I'm basically so upset at this point I feel like I could cry. I had surgery on 12/28 and since then I'm down about 24 pounds.

I haven't lost any in 2 weeks. This week I did start my period (which have been super irregular since the surgery) so I could blame that to make myself feel better, but I don't think that is why.

I don't get it.

I get at least 90 oz of Water a day. I take my Vitamins, I eat what I'm supposed to, getting 60+ in Protein daily. My calorie intake isn't high. I will do 1-2 Protein shakes a day, tuna for lunch, and something like a turkey burger or lunch meat for supper. I work out 3 times a week. I don't know what else to do and I am so upset.

Am I expecting too much? I don't have scales at home, so I weigh at work. I am thinking of buying one to have at home so I can weigh first thing...naked, haha am I grasping at straws here?

I should say that the weight I am now is what I weighed all through college. Is my body just like "oh ok, we'll stay here forever again"??

I think my brain is just confused because every diet ever was calories in vs. calories out, and according to that I SHOULD BE losing, but I"m not.

Sorry for the rambly rant. I just needed to get it off my chest to some people who would understand.

If you are expecting to never have stalls despite doing everything right, yes, you are expecting too much.

Keep following your program and stay off the scale for the next few weeks. Your body is doing tremendous work for you, having gone through a major trauma and speeding through some very rapid weight loss. It needs a little bit to catch up with the program. Keep going and the scale will start dropping again, but you absolutely can't let stalls freak you out like this. If you can't handle this occasionally, stay off the scale for longer or use a program like Trendweight to see the big picture. Good luck!

24 pounds in 6 weeks and you are disappointed? You've lost more than I had at 2 months post-op. If there is anything you are doing "wrong" it might be just not eating quite enough? I was told to try to get 100 grams of Protein in as quickly as possible (though I don't think I was there yet at 6 weeks). And I was told to get my calories up over 800 a day before starting any intense exercise.

I had surgery on 12/29 & have lost 29 lbs. I stalled for over a 1 1/2 weeks during my period too and after that, I dropped about 7 additional pounds that following week. It's coming off slow, but it's coming off. It took me a long time to gain the weight, so I would rather it all come off over a few months instead of drop 80 lbs in like 3-4. Hopefully it's giving my skin the time it needs to "snap back" & not being as much of a shock to my body. It will happen. Give yourself some time ????

I had surgery on 12/21 and am experiencing my first stall. I'm trying to embrace it knowing it was bound to happen but all the old feelings of failure are trying to sneak in. I know there is a whole thread on this subject and it's temporary. But we wouldn't be here if we didn't have failures in the past.

I have been really pushing fluids the last week, since I was getting light headed at times when I stood up. I can say I'm feeling much stronger than last week so that is a plus.

I'm trying to remember I have the tools and they are not going away this time.

You're doing fine. Resist the temptation to weigh yourself daily. Choose one day a week that you weigh yourself and set up a calendar. You'll see the progress more clearly that way. I took photos every 3 months in the same position and same place in my home to visually track my progress. Wear the same types of clothing in the pics to really see the difference. I had my sleeve done on June 21, 2013. I lost 110 lbs in the first 18 months and I've maintained that. When I had my stall, I tried working out and by the following week I was back to losing weight again.

Thanks everyone! I am feeling better now... it was just seeing no change AGAIN frustrated me first thing this morning. I will try to chill and go with the flow. I'm not great at that..in life or weight loss! haha

I didn't lose anything for 2 weeks. Now the scale moves about 1 lb every 3-4 days. Stay calm it will happen :)

i had surgery 12/14/15. surgery day i was 277. i lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks after. then i hit a 2 week stall of absolutely not even a pound loss. total now since surgery i have lost 32 pounds. I am extremely disappointed with the amount of stalls i am having. i will go weeks without a loss.

You've lost 24 pounds. Congratulations!

If stalls are going to upset you so much I highly recommend you stay off the scale. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. They are going to happen.

Getting upset because you stall is about as productive as getting upset because you have to go to sleep every night. You may not like it but it's how our bodies are wired.

Just follow your program and STAY OFF THE scale.< /p>

i had surgery 12/14/15. surgery day i was 277. i lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks after. then i hit a 2 week stall of absolutely not even a pound loss. total now since surgery i have lost 32 pounds. I am extremely disappointed with the amount of stalls i am having. i will go weeks without a loss.

32 pounds and not even two full months out? Sounds pretty darned good to me!

Like many here, I am trying to overcome my fixation with a number - current weight, weight lost, loss per week, etc. Whenever I start looking at the fact that I can go a week at a time where my weight stalls, i get frustrated. Then I force myself to take a step back and realize all I have accomplished. Over the past several months I have lost more than I ever have (a small person's worth). I went from always looking around a room to see if I was the biggest one there (and always ending in the top two or three) to not even checking anymore. I no longer take meds for the dreaded co-morbidities. I no longer have sleep apnea. I have to change clothes because they are too loose, not too tight. I can run up a flight of stairs and not feel like a coronary is coming. I feel alive and healthy. Stacked up against all that, what's a number?

keep working your plan and make sure you are eating the right amounts (track) and if the "turkey burger" has bread - eat it without - Protein first.

I think the obsession with numbers on a scale comes from years of dieting and the idea that once we reach goal, we will be "done". Once we embrace that WLS is forever and we are changing our lives forever and that there is no "done" then it puts the rate of loss in perspective. It is so true that once you are living your happy, healthy life, the date by which you reached goal becomes completely meaningless.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
