Average weight lost early on

Recommended Posts

I'm in the pureed food stage. Does anyone know what the average weight loss is during this time? I don't seem to be losing much.

Everyone loses differently. It depends on how much you weigh. People that way more, tend to lose more initially. I started my journey at 243 and am in a stall right now at 195 and I had surgery October 28th. Be patient, it will start to come off

What was your starting weight and when was your surgery date. Like @@kayjay14 posted you will lose the greatest amount the months to 1 year following surgery. The greater your weight the more you will lose per day.

Typical weight loss is 1/3 to 1/2 lb per day in the first few mos post op.

In the first month after surgery you body is in a major heal mode. Don't be too concerned about weight loss in this stage. Just make sure that you meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements and walk around 30 minutes per day and then let the magic happen.

I was actually wondering the same about weight loss within the first few months. I am 2 months post op and have lost 37 lbs. but I seem to have stalled this past week. I am exercising at least 5 days a weeks walking/running and using weights as well. I am staying within my 400-600 calorie range and my Protein and liquids. Is this the normal, I feel like I'm even increasing my intensity and even gained 2 pounds over the weekend.

I've relaxed a bit about losing the weight. I seem to have a pattern where I don't lose for a few days then I lose a couple pounds etc. I realize now it's not just going to "fall off"! lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
