lindseymb 6 Posted February 8, 2016 I have started my pre op diet for surgery in February 19th. I lost several pounds on days one and two and the last two, I haven't went anywhere. My liver shrinking diet is Meal Replacement bars, shakes, Soups provided by doc, I All green veggies I want and one serving of lean meat if wanted. If I leave out the meat it's about 750 cal a day if I put it in it can go up a few hundred. I am afraid I am going to be a slow loser. I am hoping my body is just like hold on a minute, where is my food!
glitter eyes 1,398 Posted February 8, 2016 Hang in there and have faith. I know how you feel. My two week pre op diet was liquids only: Protein Shakes, broth, and sugar free Jello and Popsicles. I had a two friends that did their two liquid diet around the same time I did mine. They lost almost 20 pounds and I only lost 4. I never cheated either. I was so worried the surgery wouldn't work or that I would be a slow loser. After surgery my weight came off fairly easily. I went from 271 down to 145 in about six or seven months. I am 20 months post op and maintaining just fine!! It works!! Good luck on your surgery- you can do it!
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted February 8, 2016 The purpose of the pre-op liquid diet is to shrink your liver, not lose weight.
