anyone sleeve in san bernardino ca?

Recommended Posts

Dr. Krahn and his team were professional and supportive. I stayed overnight in the hospital in my own room and the nursing staff was very attentive. I would definitely refer this hospital and especially the doctor to preform your surgery. I was very nervous but received encouragement and support before surgery and the next thing I know I was in recovery.

If you don't mind travelling a little bit, give a look at Dr. Ara Keshisian in Glendale. He has been doing DS's (sleeve plus intestinal rerouting) for a good long time which means he has done more sleeves than most any other bariatric surgeons, and one of the handful capable of doing the very complex RNY to DS revision (not that you need one, but good to have an overqualified surgeon than an underqualified!) He is the guy I would go to if I were in the market for a sleeve (or other revsion) in So Cal.

I had mine done by Dr. Peter Fedorka out of kaiser in Redlands but the surgery was done by him and his staff at St. Bernadine in SB. I was treated very well by all staff and the after care is just as good. I had it done on May 16th.

I am currently on my 6th week Option class with Kaiser out in Fontana. I am glad to hear the good experience at St. Bernadine's Medical Center.

I should be celebrating that I finally recieved the telephone call to schedule my mental health appt. Im kind of bummed that I have waited 4 weeks after my class to get this appt to find out my appt is late Sept. This means I may have to wait 4 weeks to meet with surgeon and another 4 weeks to have the surgery lol.... Im just excited the anticipation has really got to me.

How did you get your surgeon appointment so fast?!! Lol. I'm out of Fontana too. Had my final appointment on 10/12 and now I'm still waiting for a call to set up a surgeon appt. Ugh I swear this waiting process is a Bitch! from the looks of it if your surgery is scheduled for the end of Nov mine probably won't be till Dec. FML

Im nor sure how or why. The wait is frustrating. Just be by your phone to answer that call, beacuse they have so many patients they will just move down their list. Which can extend your wait time. I can't believe I started this journey back in April and finally the day is more of a reality. You'll get that call sooner than you know it.;)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
