deeplue 40 Posted February 8, 2016 Fully realizing that this breaks the commitment to anonymity, but if you have used the tools of Overeaters Anonymous in conjunction with WLS, please send me a message or reply to this thread. I tried OA a while ago but it never really connected for me. I am beginning to wonder, though, if now might be a better time.
JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted February 8, 2016 I go to OA and have found it to be a key factor in my WLS success. I resisted working with a sponsor until a couple of months ago and that change has kicked my program into high gear. I am open about my LapBand in my meetings. I haven't found any negative feedback at all. As we here know, the WLS is a tool. Without addressing the mental, emotional and spiritual components of my relationship with food, it's only a matter of time before old habits return.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted February 8, 2016 I credit my years of therapy and OA with a lot of my progress and success since WLS. Things I have learned about myself and my addiction as well as habits and tools I have acquired have been critical.
choosehope 233 Posted February 13, 2016 I know it's been a while since this thread was active, but I'm interested in finding/helping start an online (Skype or Zoom) OA group for WLS patients. I've been searching and searching for one. Do you know of one or are you interested in starting one? Thanks - Cyndi
