AFRAID! Surgery in less than 24 hours

Recommended Posts

Guess who is on the losers bench!!??? MEEEEEE!!!!!

oh my gosh, you guys don't know how much of a help you truly were right before I left. I mean seriously.

Well I'm here half sitting half laying in my hospital bed at 5:40 in the morning two days after surgery and I feel normal. I mean I have an iv, and feel ZERO hunger but I'm ok. Imagine that.

The first day I wanted to update but everytime I logged on I fell asleep, lol. That morphine pump was everything.

I was a little sad when they took it away last night and gave me the liquid lortab. I must say that it is fast acting though. But they only give it to you every six hours. By hour 4.5 I can feel the pain and by hour 5.5 I'm in tears. Ugh. So I'll stay drugged up for the first couple of days when I leave.

I get discharged later today. I was supposed to leave on yesterday but hunni, let me tell you, they would have had to tie me to a gurney and sit me outside if they thought I was leaving yesterday.

That huge machine that you stand in when you take the liquid to check for leaks broke yesterday that was a pain but I managed like a champ. :)

I have been able to get my liquids in and the broth they give you is surprising good. I asked for a few packets from my nurse. They basically pour hot Water into a Styrofoam cup along with this pack. The taste reminds me of oodles and noodles with out the noodles.

It's so weird only having a little bit though and being ok with that. The give you these little mL cups to measure out everything as you see fit.

Stuff I liked: broth, Water

Stuff that was ok: Jello, popsicle

Stuff that was yucky: tea, crystal light

I think they all could go in the like field but just didn't do it for me. The popsicle varied between like and ok.

Anywho, I am so thankful for you guys. Scoot over! I'm on the loser bench!!!

Welcome to the Losers' Bench!!! It's a wonderful place to stop and rest, isn't it? Now rest a bit, then get your ars up and start the best of your life! :)

OMG!! I remember hospital jello!!! I think that is what they use to torture terrorists into talking!! Gag me!!!!! On the other hand, I LOVED sugar free popsicle. They were like ambrosia to the Gods for me.

Keep us posted when you get home and "on your own".

You got this! The starting pistol has fired and you're rounding the first bend!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
