Week One Challenge

Recommended Posts

I had my Sleeve surgery Mon Feb 1st. I love water! During week 1 I am supposed to drink 64 oz of liquids which include 2 Protein Shakes a day and a full liquid meal. Problem is I can't even get down 1 Protein Drink a day, 4 oz of Soup, and the rest sips of Water. Any suggestions on getting the proper intake?

I could barely gag down Protein Drinks for the first 5 days after surgery. Something changed on day 6 and I'm now able to get 2 in per day. Water is also very easy now. I think part of the issue is that anesthesia makes things taste funny, and the swelling is still pretty prevalent. I was sleeved 1/25 so I am right there with you. It gets better every day.

Gradually get up to 64oz I hope. Your stomach it still swollen. There's no way I could get even close to that week 1. It's getting doable now at almost 4 weeks PO. It still takes me about an hour to get a 11oz Protein Shake down.

Keep trying.... It gets easier. Also- Water down your Protein shake - it might go down easier.

I also madem Protein pudding - that went down easier too.

I sugar free pudding (small box) and two vanilla Protein shakes. I use pure protein or Premier Protein. Then mix like normal and the pudding is nice and smooth. This recipe is from world according to eggface.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
