How is your husband doing?

I wish both of you all the very best!

However, I am curious why both of you chose different WLSurgeries (He: GBP and you: VSG?)

God bless!

My husband is doing great he's lost 61lbs since surgery.

The reason he got the gastric bypass was because the insurance we had last year only covered that. His company switched insurances and now this one covers both.

Hi there. I also had RYN-GPS a few days ago (Feb. 8th). How was your husband able to manage Fluid intake before being discharged?

The nurses are encouraging me to take in 64 ounces, within a 24-hour time period, before I can be discharged. It's extremely hard...just within an hour and forty-five minutes, I've only had 1 1/2 Fluid ounces. Yikes...I'm worried because I feel so full. However, I'm just starting to pass gas and I'm hoping that by releasing the gas from both ends that it may help to relieve some pressure from my new pouch and allow room for more liquids.

Does your husband have any tips? I know it's sip sip sip, but did he just sit and sip allllllllll day?

He did very well with liquids. He says what helped him was walking and walking. I remember as soon as he got out of the recovery room he asked the nurse when could he walk . When we got home from the hospital he would sip on Water and as he finished his Water bottles he would put them in a bag by his bed and he made sure he drank the amount needed for the day .

Wow...he looks great. I'm a forward-planner as well and looking for ways to divide my fluids through-out the 24-hour period. My Doc has started me out on a daily requirement of 50 oz of liquids and 50 g of Protein. I'm an early riser and always have been, so I'm learning to start sipping early. ???? Again, your husband looks great and congratulations to you both.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
