Your favorite scale?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have a favorite scale they use? I feel like splurging and the one I have now is horrible.. the most basic you can get and only works half the time!

I'm probably going to be spending a lot of time on this sucker..

I have a basic digital scale that works fine now. I bought it when I was at my highest weight because it was one that was supposed to work at that weight. It really didn't start giving me an accurate reading until I lost some weight so early out I only weighed at the doctors office. That was the best thing that could have happened for me because it kept me from obsessing about the scale.< /p>

I am saying all that to encourage you NOT to weigh often or drive yourself crazy. You might want to even consider not buying one for a while to see how it goes.

IF I bought a new scale today, since my weight is lower, I might consider going with one that synchs with MyFitnessPal, but it really isn't required. I also would look at one that also shows body fat. But, since I have access to that at my surgeon's office and my wellness center it isn't critical that I have one.

I have the Taylor 7506, which settles on weight quickly and reproducibly if I step on it multiple times. The displayed weight seems to match that on the scale in my bariatric surgeon's office, so it also looks to be quite accurate. It's also quite reasonably priced and looks nice.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
