Amelie2016 116 Posted February 5, 2016 My pain meds do not touch my headache. Usually only NSAIDS resolve my headaches. Today since this morning, it's been non stop. Any suggestions? May be due to tight muscles, I am the person with Fibro. I used my massager. It helped a little. My mucles are really tight on the left side of my neck and back. Maybe I am not napping enough. Thank you. signed *droopy eyes* PS I usually do not eat those popsicles and diet powerades, can those do that to me? ugh
Nurse_Lenora 903 Posted February 5, 2016 When my neck and back hurt I always go for the microwaveable heat pack....it never lets me down!
2goldengirl 2,076 Posted February 5, 2016 Some people do report headaches from artificial sweeteners. If you did not withdraw yourself gradually from caffeine, it could also be lack of caffeine (I'm not sure how recent your surgery was, that usually occurs within 24 hours postop). Try the massager again, do you use a shoulder heating wrap to loosen the muscles?

I did ween off the caffeine, (I was only a 2 cup a day person, no soda or other flavored drinks) but not 100%.I had some green tea. I miss it. But I usually do not use artificial sweeteners at all. I don't mind Water, I love Water. And I am getting in my 67 ounce jug a day, I drink from it all day. And my bone broth. Maybe I should stick with just that for a bit. In the hospital they did give me torodal (sp?) which helps w/ inflammation and I never had a headache. But since home I have been using the popsicles and powerades, no caffeine at all, nada I'm having a bad one since 4am yesterday. I don't have a heating pad, nope. But I have a "Thumper" level of massager, really nice too. PS This is my third day home, I think. lol Way off sleep schedule. Suggestion: When I had spinal surgery, I went through caffeine withdrawal which sent me into a persistent Migraine.< /p> Over the years (yes, I am old!) I have found that the only thing that touches my headaches is Fioricet. It is 1/3 pain killer, 1/3 Tylenol, and 1/3 Caffeine. Ask your MD. It's worth a try. It works wonders for me. Feel better and keep us posted. Now--call your MD and TURN OFF THE LIGHTS!
Amelie2016 116 Posted February 6, 2016 Ok So I put in a call to the Dr. on call, and he advised I take some Tylenol, liquid or w/e. My specific pain medicine does not have any acetaminophen in it, especially no NSAIDS. I didn't even think of that. My pain Dr. was being very careful she didn't want to irritate my new stomach either. So, hubby dashed to get acetaminophen (Tylenol) and the headache subsided. That headache also amped up my anxiety and blood pressure. Yes, I am still nervous until I get more good reports at not just follow up, but 6 weeks, and then some. (Still ... I don't know what the headache was from, maybe just because I'm only home now 5 days and stuff is still leaving my body. I kept drinking Water, thinking perhaps dehydration is still a possibility, so I'm sipping all day!) Thank you all for replying! I do so appreciate this forum. naturegirl 320 Posted February 7, 2016 I have Migraines and have had a difficult time with them lately. Every few months it results in me getting a shot of toradol in the rear to break it up. Unfortunately for me since I recently moved across the country, I'm having to tough it out until my new insurance kicks in. Good luck with finding something that works. When I get a Migraine and am away from my Fioricet, I take 800mg of Ibuprofen, a double expresso and find a dark, quiet place. ---like a really hot bath with no lighting except one candle. I have chronic migraines since my spinal surgery, so I know your suffering. Feel better, please. I'll light my candle for you.
