Band Slippage?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

This morning I had my upper GI to check on band placement. This was the first upper GI since my surgery. When I asked the radiologist how it looked he said, "weel, I do see it but I've seen it in a different spot on other people." But he also said that he was suggesting that anything is wrong and that the band might be where the surgeon wants it to be. So now I'm worried, very worried. I'm traveling by air next week and I know that some people have said they have had complications when flying. The radiologist said that my surgeon would have the results today and I did call her office but she's in surgery today so I most likely will not be able to speak to her until tomorrow. So now my phobic history is taking over and I'm thinking the worst...like band slippage or something worse than that. Does anoune out there know anything about band slippage or why my band might be positioned differently? Please help. Thanks.

If you band had slipped your doctor would have called you. She is able to put it off for another day, most likly becuase there is nothing wrong. Try not to worry.

You can look in the complications forum, but I think if your band had slipped you'd be having some pretty severe symptoms....like not even being able to get Water down. If you aren't having any major problems, you're probably just fine!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
