bphillips329 2 Posted February 5, 2016 Hello. I'm scheduled to have my sleeve surgery on March 14. I am a violinist and have been asked to play at a wedding and reception the Saturday after (March 19). Would I be ready and able to play by then? Thanks for any advice! SactoWendy 17 Posted February 5, 2016 Based on my recovery, I would say no. It's a little soon. On the 5th day post op I developed a bowel obstruction from Constipation. I was also quite tired after I did anything. If all goes well for you, then yes you could probably play the violin and take it very easy. Everyone's experience is different on the forum. I would hate for you to say Yes and then have to back out the day before..It is the most special day of her life.
Mrs_O 118 Posted February 5, 2016 i was sleeved on 1-27 and everything was a breeze but i was still tired a week after. i am a baker and i just now have taken my first cake order since surgery for this saturday as a lot of things still make me tired due to healing and the liquid only diet. of course my baking is a lot of standing so maybe if you sit and it isn't a long time to play you may feel up to it. i know the violin isn't heavy but also keep in mind you'll have a lifting restriction of about 10 pounds in case you have heavy equipment to move as well! DaisyAmy 561 Posted February 5, 2016 I felt really good after my surgery, but I don't think I would have had the stamina to perform for a wedding. I don't play violin, but I think the posture needed for that amount of time might be difficult. Good luck with your choice!
