nancyide 0 Posted July 30, 2007 I am feeling like I am all by myself here. I had my band placed 3 weeks ago today. I have been eating soft foods for a week. I feel like I can eat way more than I thought I should be able to eat. I don't feel like I am doing very good right now. I have lost 22 pounds, but 20 of them were while I was on liquids. I feel like all the things they said I wouldn't be able to do, I can do. Yes, there are a lot of things I can't eat. yes, I can't eat nearly like I use to. I guess I am afraid I am going to ruin stuff before I get my first fill. Help me. I need encouragement and advise. Thanks.:help:
TrimKim 0 Posted July 30, 2007 As hard as it is to do just remember that you didn't come all this way, surgery, and all the pain and pre-op diet and so on, just to give in to the dagging temptations that hunger can sometimes bring. The counselor at my Dr.'s office told me something that is really helping me. She said, self-displine brings with it self-confidence. Now I don't know about you, but that's somthing I would like to have tons more of. So every time you restrict yourself and stay on the program as instructed and practice self-disipline you can wake up in the morning and feel goog that you survived another day. Whew who! In the meantime, drink lots of Water in between meals, excercise and know that your fill in coming in just a few more weeks. Good luck to you and know this. You can do it! You owe it to yourself! Thanks.:help: Nancyide - Don't be so hard on yourself - 22 lbs is great - the first few always come off fast - then it slows - are you exercising.. I was banded the 17th of July - In the mornings can only eat about 1/2 cup oatmeal but for lunch had 1/2 cup refired Beans and am still a little hungry. If you are eating less than before that in it's self is a good thing. I still get hungry - but choose diff things to eat that are in low calories or i drink a protien drink - Grape Raisin my FAV only 70 calories and 15 grms Protein. I am still on mushie stage and won't go to soft until Sunday. I eat veggies for dinner with fish and some starch (mashed potatos). I eat about 1 cup for dinner with 1 fudgescile and 1 sf pudding (i am a night time eater) Don't give up - I have 6 weeks until i see the doctor again (to see if i need a fill or not as he says that for some people just the band in its self is enough restirction) Good Luck and Keep Your Chin Up YOU CAN DO IT
tammy37 0 Posted July 30, 2007 Nancy I had mine done on July 6. My recovery was great and I thought all of the same things as you. 22 lbs is fantastic. Just remember all of this takes time. I also can do all of the things they said I wouldn't be able to do. Reading all of these posts I have come to find out you probably will need a fill like I will. I read on one post this is all a healing process in the beginning and the band isn't inflated yet because of that. Once the 30 days is up your doctor will decide on a fill or not. If you need one then you will see you won't be able to take in as much as you are now. Just keep reading all the posts. It has really helped me and I am a beginner at this to. Good Luck!!! Tinkerbell77 0 Posted July 31, 2007 nancyide~ Relax, it is normal! I was banded 11 days ago so I am not quite as far along as you yet, BUT, my husbands manager was banded several months ago. She and I were talked and she told me that 5 days after she was banded she could eat ANYTHING she wanted. She could get anything down without a problem. She ate pizza, Pasta, cake, you name it she ate it. She did lose a bunch of weight and is keeping it off now. Once she got her first fill everything changed. It changed more with her second fill and then she was on a roll. She has lost like 70-80 pounds and is tiny now. I have a lot more to lose to be her size, but we will all get to where we want to be! Just keep your chin up and if you have concerns call your doctors office! Good luck! HeatherJones 0 Posted July 31, 2007 I would be thrilled with 22 pounds! So far I have lost 12....I was banded on July 10th. I am following the plan with not a bite out of the program. My dr is much stricter than most on the diet part. I am only allowed cottage cheese, Beans, cheese, and only 2 ounces at a time. I am to eat every 2-3 hours getting in between 40-80 grams of Protein in a day. I work out 6 days a week for 50 minutes. I am getting discouraged at the scale however my pants are falling off so I can tell a lot more by the clothes. I figure if we follow the program it will eventually all come off.....right? Hang in there!
