How long does it take to fall in love?

Recommended Posts

I'm just curious what people think about this topic. I always thought that you need to really know a person before you can fall in love and now I am irrationally in love with someone I met 2 weeks ago and am trying to keep my head on straight. Thanks!

I have come to the conclusion that we don't share a common definition of "in love". I can feel starstruck, awestruck, on fire, attachment feelings for someone pretty quickly, but looking back at my whole life, I think it takes me a good year before I feel true love for a person.

How old are you? I do believe at a certain age you know when you've met a person that meets your expectations, but I wouldn't call it love.

This is a strange topic. It sounds a little like puppy-love.

Having said that, I will admit that after writing to a girl on the other side of the world, I went to see her and proposed to her using a language dictionary after 6 weeks. (We didn't speak the same language.) I married her and we have been married for over 40 years now. I looked at it as a logical decision, not so much a romantic decision. We had many shared values. I am happy and I consider this to be one of the best decisions in my life. I experienced true adventure and now my children have a heritage like none other.

I think it's not exactly common to fall in love that soon, but it's entirely possible. Most people aren't lucky enough to find a person they connect with that strongly and that quickly, so if you have, congratulations! I've been with the sweetest, most caring person I've ever met for almost 4 years, and I didn't trust my feelings in the beginning, but I can tell you honestly that I loved him within two weeks of meeting him. Honestly, I feel a surge of intense connection the first time we spoke, and so did he. I'm going to marry this guy. :)

I think a lot of people have experienced the pain that love and relationships with others can inflict and it makes them much more hesitant to truly open up to and connect with someone that quickly. It takes a young and relatively unscarred heart to be able to bare yourself to someone based on initial feelings of trust and attraction. I've sort of always operated this way, and while it has set me up for intense pain in the past, it's also given me a chance to experience the kind of wild, beautiful love that most people only dream of but are too jaded and scared to be open enough to experience.

But that's just my experience and view on the subject. :)

Two weeks? Sure, why not? I can't argue it. For me we met in July. Engaged by early November and married the following June (that's 11 months). That was over 30 years ago. And I can say I've fallen in love with him again...it some how gets better.

When you find the right one, I don't think you can put a time requirement on it. Hey...it's love! ????

My husband certainly fell in love that fast. :) He proposed on our second date -- with a diamond ring. No s**t!

But the real shocker is that I said yes. (WTF?!)

Two months later, we got married. And for the last 20 years we've remained in love and continued to learn what love is really all about.

EDIT: I should add that we were both in our 50s when we met. And before we met in real life we'd also known each other online (not on a matchmaking Web site) and communicated candidly about a vast array of topics.

I hope it works out for you. And if not, I hope you don't get pregnant. :)

To the right person: "within a blink of an eye".

It they're not "the one": "Forever and a day still not long enough".

Can't force it, wish it, dream it.

What will be will be.

Enjoy and laugh often and enough for when tears and anguish come.

I was 16 years old. My current boyfriend brought his friend to my house one night to meet me. His friend took one look at me and said, "You have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen and I want to spend the rest of my life looking at them."

I fell in love instantly. Broke up with the current boyfriend and began dating his friend ( I know that's kinda mean, but all is fair in love and war).

That boy and I have been together ever since. We have been married 25 years this year and more in love than ever. We knew we were meant for each other instantly. Our love and marriage has been a blessing and I am thankful everyday.

Infatuation and lust are easy. You can get those instantly. Trust me, I know. And they can make you crazy.

When the infatuation fades is when the real love begins. Love is both a choice and an action. You can choose to do loving things that makes your partner feel love, just as you can communicate to that person what makes you feel love.

Can you tell I've been working on my love languages class since I haven't given the class in 3 years???

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
